Company’s Philosophy

Q: Why choose Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care as opposed to other natural skin care?

A: With experience, the continuation of extensive research and development, and the passion of the Pink Team, Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care’s mission is to provide incomparable quality products and service, ingredients in their most holistic and purest state, and knowledge for healthy skin. We are not the only organic and/or holistic skin care company; however, we do thrive in being a company that provides the safest and freshest products, also giving you the opportunity to personalize your own skin care for healthier skin.

Q: Where are Pink Horizons products sold?

A: Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care is selective in who we choose to do business with.  We wish to keep our batches at their guaranteed optimal freshness, and many department stores shelve their products for several months beyond what is healthy for effective results. Using Pink Horizons products is like eating fresh oranges or fresh carrots instead of eating them out of a can, which contain many chemicals and preservatives. Our products are currently being distributed to trained Health Practitioners including Estheticians, Massage Therapists, and Cosmetic Surgeons throughout the United States, Colombia, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. In the United States, our wholesale distributing partner is Emerson Ecologics, LLC. To find out how to become a member, click here.

Q: Do you test on animals?

A: Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care is AGAINST animal testing. Not only do we not perform animal testing, but we also do not use ingredients that have been tested on animals, nor collaborate with other businesses that do so. Pink Horizons is PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Certified.

Q: Is there a Recycling program in place?

A: Yes, there is. As a matter of fact, Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care is a NO WASTE company. We are a Green America Certified Business. Not only do we recycle, we also use biodegradable and/or recycled containers, printed material from recycled sources, etc. Even our ink is soy-based and toxin-free. Our suppliers carry the same business practices that we do.

Products and Ingredients

Q: Do you use parabens?

A: No toxic preservatives of any kind, including parabens, phthalates, etc. are ever used in our skin care products.

Q: Is the glycerin in your products animal or vegetable derived?

A: The glycerin used in our formulation is always from vegetable sources; in fact, not a single one of our ingredients is ever animal derived. Please visit “Our Ingredients” page to learn more about the different ingredients we use and what they can do for your skin.

Q: What is the difference between Squalene and Squalane?

A: Squalene is found in the human body, comprising approximately 12% of sebaceous secretions, and begins to decline in your 20’s. In its natural form it is chemically unstable, tending to oxidize when exposed to air. Through a process called hydrogenation, Squalane, with its similar moisturizing and emollient properties, is more stable and less likely to break down through oxidation. Therefore, it is an excellent emollient and moisturizer in natural skin care products. Shark liver oil is a popular source for Squalane sourced from Squalene; however, Pink Horizons utilizes Squalane that is derived from olives.

Q: Is there a difference between Natural, Pure, and Organic?

A: Although it may seem confusing, it’s quite simple. First of all, when a product is considered Natural in skin care, it should be from botanically sourced ingredients currently existing in or formed by nature, without the use of synthetic chemicals, and manufactured in such a way as to preserve the integrity of the ingredients.

Pure refers to the absence of certain contaminants that may exist in such natural oils, even organic oils, removed or minimized to a level that is not harmful to the human body. The presence (or absence) of a contaminant can be presented in a toxicology report. For instance, THC (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is considered a contaminant in Hemp Seed Oil. Pulegone is a contaminant found in Peppermint Essential Oil.

Organic is a term that refers to ingredients that have been grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, been genetically modified, etc. Whether it is in skin care, or edibles, you should always aim for organic certified by a reputable agency with strict standard protocols set in place such as USDA or Oregon Tilth. Look for the logo on the products’ labels and/or the website that you are purchasing from.

Given the basic explanation of the words NaturalPure, and Organic, you can begin to differentiate between quality and misleading information. For instance, with respect to carrier oils and essential oils, the words ‘100% Pure’ can sometimes be ambiguous, not necessarily reflecting true product quality. So the right thing to do in this case is to know which contaminant might be present in your oil of interest, and request a toxicology report. When a skin care product you pick up off of the shelf or buy online says, ‘100% Natural’, this can also be ‘tricky’, because this is not necessarily the case, unless you read and understand most of the ingredients written on their label. So, use that as your ‘Rule of Thumb.’

Remember, cosmetic companies in the U.S. are not strictly regulated, and for several years many have taken advantage of this fact. This is the reason why Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care emphasizes to its customers to learn and research information from reputable sources, i.e. scientific journals. The Pink Team has been following the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics since its initiative and continues to maintain its fight towards safe and toxin-free skin care. We strive in making sure that you receive the optimal quality that you deserve and always keep our pledge regarding ‘Truth in Labeling’, because you deserve to know what you are feeding your skin.

Q: Are any of the Pink Horizons products gluten-free?

A: The majority of the Pink Horizons products are gluten-free. However, the pseudocollagen we use in our formulas is yeast-derived from Brewer's yeast extract. Yeast is known to have some gluten. We cannot guarantee if the minimal presence of gluten will affect your health, therefore, only the products that are enhanced with pseudocollagen would be the obvious exception, which are currently our Antioxidant Refining Toner and Omega Hydrating Complex. If you desire a product similar to these that are enhanced with pseudocollagen, but without the presence of gluten, our Pink Team will be happy to modify a product to suit your health and wellbeing.

Q: How are your products preserved?

A: The preservation system we choose varies depending on the formula. Our emulsifications contain a calculated blend of essential oils which preserve the product against bacteria and fungi. Our Aloe base formulas have potassium sorbate to assist in this process. The Pink Team guarantees that all of the preservatives used in our skin care products are completely natural and safe.

Q: Why do my products have an expiration date?

A: Keep in mind that using Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care products is like eating fresh oranges or carrots instead of eating them out of a can, which contain many chemicals and preservatives. Unlike the average skin care company, Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care uses optimal freshness dates (not to be confused with expiration dates). We handcraft specific formulas with holistic and toxin-free ingredients. When purchased from us directly, these formulas are made-to-order, which means, the product you receive is fresh; this is important for healthier skin. We preserve our products the most natural way possible and test it to give it the proper period in which the handcrafted formula will be the most effective, even though the product itself lasts reasonably longer.

Naturally, many carrier oils commonly used in skin care have an average shelf life of 8-18 months after being pressed. If this is the case, ask yourself, how can a product formulated with any of these oils as a base, be effective past the 1st year and a half? A preservative will assist a formula to maintain its integrity under the various conditions it may face (heat or bacteria), however, a preservative will not increase nor extend the effectiveness of a specific ingredient. Many skin care products remain on the shelf for 2-3+ years, which we believe is rather unconscionable.

Q: Should the products be refrigerated?

A: Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care products are tested for stability under conditions of normal use, however, we strongly recommend refrigerating your products for optimal freshness. Otherwise, store in a cool area, out of direct sunlight up to the suggested period indicated on the label found below your product.

Q: How long will it take your products to have a noticeable effect on my skin?

A: The time it requires to regain healthier skin is different for each one of us. It depends on the skin’s condition, how many toxins it is exposed to, the history of products used, lifestyle and diet. With a daily and consistent regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing with Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care products, along with adequate nutrition and proper hydration, you can produce visible effects of truly healthy skin within several days. Proudly, some of our loyal customers have felt the difference within the first 2-3 days!

Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care emphasizes on developing products that are 1) safe and toxin-free, 2) fresh and pure 3) effective and contain naturally powerful ingredients, combined specifically to perform to the highest standards and in a naturally holistic way. Our products have no ‘filler’ ingredients, because all of the listed ingredients in a formulation are there to perform a certain task for your skin’s health. If you experience a period of acclimation to this new way of caring for your skin, consider this normal and part of your natural process towards toxin-free living; however, keep a close look to how your body and skin are reacting to this new, holistic, and more organic approach. The Pink Team encourages you to complement your holistic skin care regimen with a nutritious and holistic lifestyle in order to regain balance not just for your skin, but for your body and overall wellbeing.

Personal Care

Q: Would using oils on my skin make my face more oily?

A: Not necessarily. However, you must use a specific combination of carrier oils with essential oils that will give you optimal results. For oily skin, the general idea is to use a carrier oil that is light making it highly absorbable and will ‘carry’ the essential oils into the skin, such as, Almond oil, Grapeseed oil, Jojoba Seed oil (known to be the closest one to human sebum in similarity), etc. With such oils as a base, combine it with essential oils slightly more astringent in its properties such as Lemon, Sweet Orange, Patchouli or Sandalwood.

Remember, each individual is unique and so is his/her skin. We always encourage you to do research, learn more about your skin type, and listen to your body, in this case to your skin. Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care will always be honored to assist you in this process.

Q: Should I always use a toner after I cleanse my face?

A: Definitely. A cleanser is naturally basic in pH, which assists in the process of removing excessive oils and dirt; while a toner should be on the acidic end of the pH scale in order to balance the pH of the skin back to a neutral level, hence, completing the cleansing process. Furthermore, the toner is fundamental in tightening your pores, refreshing your skin and making it ready to absorb nutrients to follow. Neither the cleanser nor the toner should have an extreme drying effect, because this outcome is not suitable for healthy skin. Our Antioxidant Refining Toner has a very unique blend of organic ingredients that do exactly what a toner should do for your skin plus carry collagen production elements.

Q: How often should I exfoliate?

A: Exfoliation should be an important part in your skin care regimen. Exfoliating allows your freshest, most radiant skin to shine since it removes the surface layer of dead cells that can interrupt you from nourishing your true and vivid skin cells.  Now, how often should we exfoliate depends mostly on: your skin type, and the climate you live in. If you have sensitive or delicate skin, your skin might feel more comfortable with exfoliation once a week. Twice a week or more can be harsh and lead to irritation on the surface of your skin, which is counterproductive and unhealthy. For this same reason, harsh exfoliation on any type of skin is not recommended. On the other hand, if you live in a warmer climate than average (like the Pink Team), you might have to exfoliate more often in order to maintain your skin’s vibrancy and free it of dead cells.

It’s scientifically proven that the average adult sheds approximately 50,000 dead cells every minute. So, it would make sense to gently exfoliate every day. Then again, the Pink Team always encourages everyone to ‘listen to their skin,’ and do what feels comfortable. As long as you do not skip exfoliation all together, you are on the right path towards healthier toxin-free skin.

Q: When should I use a serum if I already have a moisturizer?

A: Our serums are targeted treatments and more specialized than an ordinary moisturizer. On the same note, our current moisturizer, the Omega Hydrating Complex, is not an ordinary moisturizer; it is beyond that. Our Cell Defense Serums have an unconventional blend with moisturizing elements as well as other nourishing components specific to the skin type. We recommend that you use a serum specific to your skin type and apply it in the evening after you have cleansed and toned your face without using an additional moisturizer.

Studies have shown that your skin does most of its restorative process during your resting period. Pink Horizons Botanical Skin Care encourages subtle treatments and/or serums to be applied in the evening to assist the skin with this workload of toxin elimination.
